TDF Stage 4

Postby rblackmoor » Fri Jan 29, 2010 5:23 am

The early break put paid to my intentions of grabbing some more mountain points as my riders missed the break.

Things were pretty uneventful until the penultimate climb when no sooner had the break been pulled back then another group of 19 riders sprang clear. None of my riders made the break, but as riders in the break dropped back the lead group thinned before a great attack by Alain Muselet (THOMPSON) with Norbert Jegou (jmclakers) and a strong looking Dan Foester (The Crue) in hot pursuit.

Another group of 3 just off the front of the Peleton included Moncaf Bonnace (THOMPSON), Tony Ahmad (The Crue) and the Yellow Jersey of PoTze (LU HANG TEAM) as the final climb started.

My riders Steve Ainsworth (Wild Hogs) and Ted Coulson (Wild Hogs) were driving at the head of the peleton, and swallowed up the Yellow jersey group. Meanwhile Dan Foester (The Crue) moved through the other attackers to take the lead as Alain Muselet (THOMPSON) fell back.

On the descent all but Dan Foester (The Crue) fell back, who went on to win by 2m23s. Ted Coulson (Wild Hogs) did a fine sprint to take second with Steve Ainsworth (Wild Hogs) in 4th.

So this was definitely a great day for my team, with some strong riding and high placings on a tough day.

TDF Stage 5 (Time Trial)

Postby rblackmoor » Fri Jan 29, 2010 5:31 am

Finally a win for the team with a strong performance by Ted Coulson (Wild Hogs). Never a favorite for the win, he measured his effort perfectly to take the stage by 6 seconds. Our time trial specialist Martin Wilcocks (Wild Hogs) could only manage a 9th place after running out of energy in the closing km.

The GC is so very close with 6 riders within 36 seconds, Vontoux will be very exciting! My Ted Coulson is in with a shot for the podium being only 24 seconds off the Yellow jersey, so we will be trying our hardest for the podium tomorrow!

Thanks, this was one of my targeted races and it seems to be paying off. A podium place is a much better result than I was hoping for a couple of days ago. The TT win was a little unexpected, although Ted Coulson does seem to perform better than his raw stats would suggest. He also has very high recovery stat (77 REC) which helps at the end of a long tour and I also managed to gauge his effort nearly perfectly.

Now if only I could snatch back 2 seconds on the run into Paris and grab 2nd place on GC

The lack of the server is frustrating as I'm so eager to see how things turned out. Anyway will do some more race report when we have a chance to see what happened.

Congratulations for your very good Tour de France....Coulson missed second place just for one second and maybe he will try to get a few seconds in the last stage ?? Anyway Annecy was a very good success and maybe you wait more in Ventoux...
Bravo !!! ( and sorry for my bad english ).

Difficult weather conditions here are hampering my efforts but I'm back online again.

We had 24" of snow and widespread power outages. I have had no power for 3 days now, and finally got internet back late yesterday (I'm running on generator).

Fortunately was able to set up the final stage of the Cyeneco before I lost internet... as my sprinter Tom Gunn won the stage :D

Unfortunately no time to report anything as I'm too busy just trying to keep things working around the house. Just hoping I can manage to keep things running for the Vuelta as it looks like it will be keenly contested in the 2nd division :)

Well done on a fine :ITT: with your team leader, :UK: Foster. You seem to have judged the ride perfectly. I was fractionally out, and it is a little frustrating to end 2nd again in a :ITT: , but am relieved to have pretty much secured the win. The top 3 should remain as is. It has been a great fight ... especially as I have dominated :D

You still have a chance of making the Top 20 by season end, and with your leader 3rd, you will earn more points today. ALl the best on your pursuit for a top spot in Lombardia.

Thanks! Yes I managed to get this one spot on, a very close result indeed. I know all about 2nd spots, I have had quite a few 2nd and 3rd places that should have been wins :(

Hey you can't win all the points you know, particularly as you have secured your place in the top 20. I seem to remember a few days back you seemed to think your cause was lost, now not only are you in the top 20, but sitting in 6th spot!

I certainly hope I can get into the top 20, would be frustrating to be so close and miss it.

Good luck for today, just leave some crumbs for me
